April 28, 2011 (updated)

The top six performed last night on  American Idol and it was a great show.  The obvious best performance was from James Durbin.  Jennifer Lopez hit the nail on the head when she said “He has not blown one week!” and it’s true, he’s consistent.  In fact, his performances keep getting better.  I started the show this year an instant Lauren Alaina fan and I still am, but now I think I want James to win, sure would like to see them both in the final.

Jacob was part of my prediction to leave last week, well he didn’t, but I’m going with the same prediction for this week.  He’s certainly a great performer, but his voice just isn’t hangin.  I plan on updating my post tonight to let you know.

Lauren did a really good job tonight, she pushed her voice and it made for a better performance.  Scotty also pushed his voice and had a great performance as well.  Lauren and Scotty also did a very nice duet.

Casey sang “Hi-De-Ho (That Old Sweet Roll),” no surprise here, but he started the tune with one hand on the mic and the other playing a ditty on the high-end of the piano, very nice.  Haley had a solid performance and she and Casey had a pretty good duet.

The worst performance of the night by far was the duet by Jacob and James.  Apparently the producers made them sing “I’m Into Something Good,” it didn’t look good and it didn’t sound good either.

That’s all for now, until tonight…

UPDATE: well, Jacob was saved for another week and it was…Casey that was sent home.  He took it really well and his last performance was a lot of fun to watch.  He went into the audience a few times and kissed at least a dozen girls.  At the end he walked up to Haley and sang his final line “you are mine,” very sweet.

Got all caught up on The Event last night, wow, wow, wow…the show is very exciting, dramatic, part mystery and at times very depressing.  Does anyone know if it’s coming back in fall 2011?  If you haven’t seen it yet or stopped watching…click here and start watching!!  Good TV!!  I mean, who doesn’t want to watch aliens attempt to take over the planet and watch as a few good and bad humans try to stop them 🙂

I had a Love & Logic moment last night and I must share 🙂

I have two boys (4 an 20-months) and I get then ready for bed at the same time.  The oldest (Ben) is supposed to go to the bathroom and get into his pjs while I change the youngest.  I’ve always told Ben if he gets ready when I ask that he can share in his brothers story time.  Well, Ben decided to play last night and not get ready.  He was still in his room playing when I finished story time with his brother.  Ben started to cry when he realized his consequence.  I told him that it was a bummer that he missed out because he decided to play instead of getting ready.  Of course I do understand, I felt bad for the little guy.  I told him that maybe tomorrow night he should choose to get ready and then he can share in brother’s book time.  He thought that was a good idea and the crying stopped.  I’ll let you know how it goes tonight.

UPDATE: Ben got into his pjs very quickly tonight, in fact he was ready before the baby.  Happy ending for me on a couple counts and I never rasied my voice 🙂

oh boy, American Idol was interesting last night…the bottom three were predictable (Jacob, Stefano and Haley).  Haley was the first sent back to the couches…and it was Stephano who said goodbye unfortunately.  I think he knew it was his time, he had that knowing smile on his face, probably a smile to cover the severe disappointment.  I’m not that sad about his departing, since I know mostly these three will all be gone in the next couple of weeks

David Cook performed his new single (“The Last Goodbye”) last night and it was awesome!!  David explained his continued efforts to support research (after loosing his brother) in brain cancer.  He’ll be the DC Honorary Chair in this years Race for Hope DC.

Also Katy Perry performed, well not live anyways, according to E News she taped her performance (with Kanye West) last week due to her laser light show.

Almost forgot to tell you, James Durbin was really crushed about Stefano’s departure.  Tears fell when he heard the news.  After Stefano got out his last note, of his fairwell song, James grabbed him and swung him around.  Pretty cool sight.  When everyone else joined them on stage James stepped back and allowed his buddy Stefano the spot light and everyone’s attention, classy.

Wow, American Idol was awesome last night!!!  My fav performance of the night…James Durbin, he did Muse and he rocked it, see it here, most powerful performance of the season!!  Everyone did a really good job, however a few contestants didn’t get rave reviews: Scotty, Haley and Jacob.  Hate to say it but probably Haley or Jacob are going home tonight.  I have to say though that Haley grew on me tonight.  I think she gave a very heartfelt performance.  I’ll let you know tomorrow who is sent packin.

I saw the coolest show last night.  First I’ll tell you that I studied dance from 4th grade through college.  Dance took me a lot of places and sometimes I wonder if I could have made any kind of living at it, but I gave it up in my early twenties.  I now have a husband and a couple of kids, so no regrets.  The show is on E, called The Dance Scene and it shows some of the realities of being a dancer.  If you’ve enjoyed shows like So You think you can Dance or Dancing with the Stars than Dance Scene is a much watch show for you!!

Dance Teachers are a rough crowd, I was not surprised at all in how she treated her dancers.  The show brings back a lot of memories, not all bad either.

Do you have something in your life that pushes you past your endurance or what you think you could do?  Some of the most rewarding and enjoyable moments in my life have been when I’ve dared to try…hmmm, interesting

The snow is gone, thanks for visiting, now stay away 🙂

Watched the coolest episode of Fringe last night, they took us into Olivia’s consciousness.  It was strange in the parts where zombies began to chase them.  At one point they found someone they were looking for, but when they opened the door they became a comic, sooo cool!!  If you watch Fringe and haven’t yet watched the end of this episode, skip to my next section because this is your SPOILER ALERT!!!…There was a strange guy in the comic with a large X across his chest.  He damaged the zeppelin they were in and jumped out, so strange.  When Peter asked Olivia about the stranger, after they rescued here and returned to non comic/outside Olivia’s consciousness, she said something like, I don’t know, but I think he’s going to kill me.  What, gosh I love this show!!!

So right now I have a book I just started reading that is waiting for me in my family room and in my iPad I am in the middle of two books.  Why do I do this?  I know these books are all different and I seem to be drawn to the different books at different days or time of day.  I don’t like when I read three books at a time because it is an added pressure.  I mean trying to remember three books at one time is a little silly.  Do you ever do this?

Yesterday the boy I watch before school was having a grouchy day and he wouldn’t play with my son (both are 4).  My son kept trying different things and didn’t get discouraged, but my hackles went up.  I talked to my son later about what happened.  I told him it was ok to stick up for himself and be honest with the boy.  He seemed to relax when I told him that he deserved friends that were nice to him and he could tell this boy that he wouldn’t want to play with him anymore if he continued to be mean.  I thought about the whole thing later and was amazed, although we often talk about being polite, we haven’t (until now) started to talk about how to stick up for ourselves.  This is certainly an area where I want to guide my son, interesting the things that you don’t automatically talk about.
