Hard to believe it is the last day of May already!!!  It’s also hard to believe all my weeding and mulching are done!!  Since my first pregnancy (I now have two boys) back in spring of 2006 my garden has taken a back seat.  I love to garden, being out in nature, getting your hands dirty and creating something pretty and sometimes edible is pretty awesome.  It conjures a feeling in me similar to Tom Hanks in Cast Away, “I…have made FIRE” 🙂 Anyways, my green beans and peas have sprouted and will hopefully (if the bunnies and chipmunks stay on the right side of my garden fence) begin to climb the trellis.  This is my 2nd year in having a raspberry patch.  Last year the new plants only gave me a about a dozen berries, I can already tell this year will be different.  This year is so very different!!

I’ve started another great week on my road to a new me.  Although I didn’t get in my Pilates workout on Sunday, since my brother and his family were staying with us.  I did go for a very long walk with my sister-in-law on Sunday.  We walked for almost an hour.  The best part was that I was able to keep up with her, thanks obviously to my recent efforts, very cool!!!  Yesterday and today I also got in my 40-minutes workout, yahoo!!!  My mom sent me a link the other day, which won’t work with my schedule.  I’m a stay at home mom, I need workouts I can do with a couple of kids around.  I’m hoping to start it in a couple of years when my boys are older.  I had to share because I’m actually excited about starting it myself.  Here is the link and their blurb: The Couch-to-5K ® Running Plan
Our beginner’s running schedule has helped thousands of new runners get off the couch and onto the roads, running 3 miles in just two months.

  1. I know so many people who have completed the couch to 5K and loved it. I would love to start running one day. Right now I am still too heavy and my knees are too weak to endure it but someday I will get there. I know you will too! Great job with the workouts and making adjustments to the routine when you couldn’t do pilates. I am so proud of you! You are doing great!

    • That is good to hear!! Maybe someday I’ll start it as well. My knees are also not the greatest, but I’ve always wanted to run. Maybe when I am a bit lighter and in better shape and when my husband is around more I’ll start the program…we shall see. I know I have some tough weeks ahead of me, as my workouts will only get me so far, before I’ll need to stick to a better meal plan. I’m trying to make slow changes, which I have started (I’ve already thanked you for the inspiration here, but thanks again :). I’m being careful, since I’ve had so many problems with food, I’m sure I’ll blog about this too.
